As Terence Crawford (28-0, 20KOs) and Viktor Postol (28-0, 12KOs) stood face-to-face this past Tuesday afternoon at the formal press conference at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills to promote their July 23rd unification tilt, one thing was very evident - Postol has a noticeable advantage in height over Crawford, who is listed at 5'8. But this doesnt' faze the defending WBO champion.
He pointed out,"(Breidis) Prescott was taller than him. Andre Gorges was taller than him. I've done fought guys like him."
The Ukranian, who's listed at 5'11 is fights a bit like former heavyweight champion, Wladmir Klitschko, utilizing his reach and height to great effectiveness. To which Crawford cracked,"If he's Klitschko, I'm Tyson Fury."
But he promises a much better fight than that heavyweight bout that was devoid of any real sustained action.
"Oh yeah, I can promise you that," said Crawford, who says of his foe. "He's a good boxer, he does what he has to do to get the job done. I don't take credit away from him. That's why it's going to make for a great fight July 23rd."
Postol used his physical advantages to overcome, and stop, dangerous puncher Lucas Matthysse last October to capture the vacant WBC junior welterweight championship.
Crawford-Postol is a match-up of two 140-pound belt-holders and will help consolidate the division. Something which is important to Crawford.
"More people in divisions need to fight each other. They need to solidify who's the best in the divisions. That's what it's all about. I feel if there was only one title that's what we'd all shoot for but being that it's more than one sanctioning body, everybody shoots fro a certain belt and that's that."
