Doncaster's Jason Rushton is in a drug-induced coma after being stopped in the tenth and final round of his British light-middleweight Central Area title fight with Brian Rose in Bolton last night. 

Rushton collapsed post-fight and was rushed to hospital, where doctors discovered bleeding on the brain of the 26-year-old boxer; they have operated to relieve the pressure and will monitor Jason over the next 24-hours. 

Jason fought bravely throughout the bout but he was floored heavily in the tenth and final round.  Rushton looked exhausted at this point but gamely rose to his feet.  Referee Steve Gray stepped in when Rose launched his follow-on attack - stopping the fight at 2:59 of the round.

Jason has held the Central Area and British Masters titles during his 28-bout career.  He had been stopped in two of his last four fights, versus Matthew Hall, in six, and Jamie Cox, a one-round loss in February; however, Rushton is a tough operator and he was fired-up for the Rose fight.  Everyone at BoxingScene.com wishes him a full and speedy recovery.

The ringside doctors had to leave to attend to Ruston; consequently the next bout, Brett Flournoy versus Kevin McIntyre, was stopped after two rounds and declared a NC.
