The much talked about Ring Magazine card set to be staged in Times Square, New York, has been confirmed for Friday, May 2, and will feature three contests: Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero, Devin Haney vs. Jose Carlos Ramirez and Teofimo Lopez vs. Arnold Barboza.

The press release states that “for the first time ever, Times Square will transform into a world-class boxing venue” and – like the tagline for the Chris Eubank Jnr-Conor Benn showdown on April 26 – will be “entitled” Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, to coincide with the April 24 release of the video game.

The first bout of the card will see Lopez, 21-1 (13 KOs), defend his WBO junior welterweight title against Arnold Barboza who is fresh off victory over Jack Catterall in an eliminator.

At welterweight, Haney, 31-0-1 NC (15 KOs), will then tackle Jose Carlos Ramirez, 29-2 (18 KOs), in a bout that the former will be favored to win. Should he do so, it will be hoped that Garcia, 24-1-1 NC (18 KOs), does the same in the main event against Romero, 16-2 (13 KOs). The plan, of course, is for Haney and Garcia to engage in a rematch of their infamous April 2024 encounter later in the year.

That bout saw Garcia fail to make weight, drop Haney three times, win an upset decision, only for the result to be switched to a No Contest when it emerged that Garcia had twice tested positive for banned substance, ostarine. A year-long suspension was subsequently handed down by the New York State Athletic Commission.

Details on the broadcaster are unknown but, according to the release, “boxing fans across the globe will have the opportunity to witness this monumental night via Pay-Per-View, ensuring that the action reaches audiences far beyond Times Square.”
