Sauerland Event has revealed that promoter Mick Hennessey, who handles Tyson Fury (21-0, 15KOs), is not interested in going forward with an ordered fight against EBU heavyweight champion Kubrat Pulev (17-0, 9KOs). The two sides had until June 1 to reach a deal or an EBU purse bid would go forward. Hennessey was not interested in taking part in the purse bid.
Fury-Pulev was also an IBF final eliminator, with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger to the October 5th match between unified king Wladimir Klitschko and challenger Alexander Povetkin.
Pulev knocked out Alexander Ustinov in an IBF semi-eliminator last September, while Fury knocked out Steve Cunningham in the second IBF semi-eliminator, which took place on April 20th in New York.
Sauerland expect the IBF to make Pulev the mandatory challenger to their heavyweight title. He was orginally set to fight Tomasz Adamek in an IBF final eliminator, but the Polish star also withdrew.
