Leeds warrior Josh Warrington might have one last high-level roll of the dice left.
The veteran Yorkshireman and former IBF featherweight champion, now 34, is 31-4-1 (8 KOs) but has lost his last three, to Luis Lopez, Leigh Wood and Anthony Cacace.
Wood and Cacace fight in May and the former had long been in Warrington’s sights.
“We are talking to Josh about a couple of big fights in the summer,” said his promoter Eddie Hearn. “It’s whether he has a run out. What are you looking up for him, big-wise? What’s interesting? I mean, is there a world title shot? You know, there was a mention the other day of Mick Conlan.”
Conlan boxes in Brighton on Friday, and he and Warrington – who has boxed just once a year for three years – both have significant volumes of support.
“If he [Conlan] comes through his fight, you know, two big fan bases could be interesting,” Hearn said. “I mean, like, last chance saloon. We acknowledge this is going to be Josh’s last year in boxing.
“I think he came off the Cacace fight. It feels like the inactivity killed him a little bit in that fight and wants to go again.”
