NEW YORK - While promoters Bob Arum and Oscar De La Hoya have presented some strong opinions on the ongoing presidential race, there's no denying who former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is supporting in this presidential election.

"If you want to get this city out of a dump, you better vote on Trump. OK?" said Tyson during an appearance on Fox 5 morning program, 'Good Day New York.'

Both De La Hoya and Arum have taken aim at Trump for his comments pertaining to Mexican illegals and Muslims.

The Brooklyn native who now calls Las Vegas home, says he's in Donald Trump's corner, "all day, every day. Yes!"

"He's an underdog and no one likes the fact that he is winning," said Tyson who has never endorsed a candidate before. "I know Trump. This is a good thing. Vote on Trump."

'Iron Mike' as he was dubbed throughout his outstanding boxing career, adds that he won't go on the campaign trail because he's not a "campaign guy."

One thing is also certain, Tyson and his children are on opposite sides of the ring when it comes to the election.

"Most of my children are very liberal and very opinionated. Ah! Forget that," said Tyson.

Trump leads the Republican field 2-1, nationwide, with 39 percent, his highest total so far, followed by Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida with 19 percent and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas with 18 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University National poll.
