After using his jab to win every round of the fight, Wladimir Klitschko stepped up the pace in the twelfth round to score a brutal knockout of Eddie Chambers in Duesseldorf, Germany. Klitschko retained his WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight titles.

The fight was dragging along for eleven rounds. Before the start of the twelfth, trainer Emanuel Steward and older brother Vitali Klitschko urged Wladimir to go for the knockout. With less than 15-seconds in the fight, a left hand knocked Chambers out cold.

In the post-fight, Klitschko said the speed of Chambers gave him some problems, but the mandatory challenger had no power in his punches. Klitschko said the strategy of Chambers fell apart after the first half of the fight was over.

"I have to give him credit, he was fast,'' Klitschko said. "He doesn't have much punching power and his game plan was gone by round six.''

It's become clear that unless you have some serious punching power to get Wladimir's respect, the fight might be over before the sound of the first bell. The next opponent coming up should be undefeated IBF mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin.
