HOLLYWOOD, Fla.—As long as his team can keep lining up willing opponents, Filip Hrgovic will gladly continue to step over the top rope and into the ring as often as possible.

“I’m ready to come back next month,” Croatia’s Hrgovic insisted to BoxingScene.com, following a 5th round stoppage of Rydell Booker (26-4, 13KOs) this past Saturday in Hollywood, Florida.

The 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist was methodical in breaking down Detroit’s Booker, becoming the first to stop the veteran heavyweight. Booker had extended Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev (28-1, 14KOs) ten full rounds on short notice last November in Fresno, California. This fight came with plenty of notice for both fighters, with Hrgovic not leaving anything to chance.

“It was a good fight. Filip is a great fighter, he was very disciplined in training camp,” Pedro Diaz, the world-class head trainer of Hrgovic told BoxingScene.com. “He trained hard every day, focused on becoming the best boxer in the heavyweight division.

“I think for the fans, 2021 is going to be a very good year for Hrgovic.”

The question remains, who will be the foes to either help elevate the unbeaten heavyweight to that level or disprove that notion.

Hrgovic wasn’t at all shy about calling out nearly every top heavyweight contender and champion in his post-fight interview. It was a necessary step, as efforts to secure opponents one fight at a time isn’t quite working out the way he would like.

“These guys are not real fighters. They are just Instagram boxers,” Hrgovic said of his desired competition. “They don’t want to sign a contract. They just want to post a bunch of bullsh-t on Instagram.

“I’m training hard every day. I want to fight everyone, that’s why I named everybody in the division. Put down your phone and sign the contract. I want all of them.”
