According to the Ventura County Star, former IBF and WBA junior middlweight champion Fernando Vargas is trying to oust his mother from her home. The case went to court on Friday. His mother, Alicia Romo, claims that Vargas talked her in to signing over her portion of the home's title to him in 1999.  Romo claims to have bought the house with her mother in 1979.

Romo filed her own lawsuit and the judge wants to consolidate both lawsuits into one and has ordered a stay of the eviction until the cases are resolved.  Romo's mother didn't sign over her portion of the title to Vargas because she was afraid something like this may happen, according to the article.

Every story has two sides and when asked why would Vargas want to throw his own mother out of her home, Oscar Hernandez, Vargas' attorney had this to say:

"That is kind of a loaded question. It is an unfair question.  I think those issues are between Fernando and his mother. Fernando has been taken advantage of by many people including his mother. They've been estranged for many years due to financial improprieties that she undertook while she was his financial manager.”

It's hard to judge this case without all of the information being provided from both sides. The one thing I do know is that you can look for Fernando to return to a ring near you, and maybe pay-per-view, in February or March of next year.
