After the controversy that took place last year when the Nevada Athletic Commission [NSAC] did not allow Canelo Alvarez to wear the "No Boxing No Life" brand of gloves at the request of Gennady Golovkin, the Mexican star will be allowed to use them for the upcoming bout with Daniel Jacobs.

According to Bob Bennett, executive director of the NSAC, reported that Golden Boy President Eric Gomez provided all of the dates, times and events in which gloves were already used, so they saw no impediment to approve them.

And besides that the inspector in charge of the process had reviewed them again and there was no problem.

Canelo will collide with Jacobs for the IBF, WBA, WBC middleweight belts on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

"These gloves were already approved by the Nevada Athletic Commission, they were supervised by the inspector, and the president (of Golden Boy), Eric Gómez, gave us the dates, times and events in which these gloves were used in the past. They were tested and they are already approved," explained Bennett to ESPN Deportes.

Canelo used this brand of gloves in New York, when he defeated Rocky Fielding in December, but he was not allowed to use them for his rematch with Golovkin in September.

Bennett also reported that referee Tony Weeks will be able to use instant replay technology for the contest

Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the World Boxing Council, congratulated the NSAC for the decision to use instant replay.

"We used the replay in two fights last week, it had already been used to familiarize us [with the technology] and to see the legal approval to put it into effect, based on the need to ensure that the referee has the best decision for the benefit of the fighters," explained Bennett.
