Alycia Baumgardner will mark her debut as an MVP fighter with a slot on the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano III undercard inside New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Friday July 11. “The Bomb”, who holds all the belts at junior featherweight, will take on unbeaten Spaniard, Jennifer Miranda, who owns the WBA interim strap at 130lbs. The event, which is among the first all-female professional cards in boxing history, will be streamed live on Netflix.

“I came to MVP for moments like this - high stakes, global stage, and the chance to show the world who I really am,” Baumgardner, 15-1 (7 KOs), is quoted as saying in a press release. “Amanda and Katie have done incredible things for women’s boxing, and it’s an honor to share the card with them. But I didn’t come to stand beside greatness, I came to be it. This night, this spotlight, it’s mine. Jennifer Miranda, I hope you’re ready because I’m the one they warn you about. The pretty face with bad intentions. When that bell rings, it’s not personal, but it is going to hurt. My belts are staying with me. And still.”

Miranda, 38, has been boxing for 15 years and has built her 12-0 (1 KO) professional record in Spain. The step up to 30-year-old Baumgardner is a significant one.

“Alycia Baumgardner is an incredible champion,” Miranda admitted, “but this is my opportunity to become the first ever undisputed champion from Spain and I will do so. It’s time to write my name in the history books of boxing. Undisputed.”

Miranda had success as an amateur, winning numerous national titles before turning over in 2018. Outside of the ring, Miranda has achieved two university degrees and, thanks to appearing in Netflix hit, Money Heist, she’s also made progress in her acting career.

The event will come at no additional cost to Netflix subscribers.
