The legal troubles continue to pile up for Floyd Mayweather Jr., who returns to boxing on September 17th against WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather is already facing two criminal court cases that involve assault allegations. One case involves the mother of his children, and the other is separate case where a secuirty guard claims the fighter poked him in the face. Last month, a civil suit was filed on behalf of nightclub bouncer Clay Gerling, with allegations that Mayweather's bodyguards attacked and injured him at Drai’s Nightclub on the Las Vegas Strip.
The hits keep coming.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, the attorneys for Anthony R. Cliff, who lives in Clark County, filed a lawsuit last Friday in Las Vegas against Mayweather, his company Mayweather Promotions LLC and the Palms Resort and Casino.
The legal documents allege that Cliff tried to take Mayweather’s photo and made some comments about a potential fight. Mayweather replied that Cliff was disrespecting him and gave the thumbs-down sign to his bodyguards. The legal suit claims that was a "signal for the bodyguards to attack Cliff, which they then did, striking Cliff in the face, knocking, pulling or pushing Cliff to the ground."
The incident is alleged to have happened on March 27, 2010, in the valet parking area of the Palms, who are being sued as a co-defendant for negligence and having inadequate security.
