Heavyweight title challenger Kevin Johnson (29-4-1, 14 KOs), who helping unbeaten Polish contender Artur Szpilka (16-0, 12 KOs) in camp, says the young boxer has a great future ahead of him. Szpilka will return on January 25th at New York's Madison Square Garden against fellow undefeated contender Bryant Jennings (17-0, 9 KOs). The fight is scheduled for ten rounds and HBO will televise the contest.
"He's a great fighter. I've been in the ring with the best fighters in the world. I sparred with Wladimir and fought Vitali Klitschko and there were many others that I faced. Szpilka has a great future ahead. To fight at Madison Square Garden, it's still the goal of every fighter. The fight will be broadcast by HBO. It will be a great test for Szpilka. In this fight, both he and Bryant Jennings will have their hands full. It's the perfect combination of two warriors. I had the opportunity to spar with both. I do not want to predict who will win. I'm going to watch the fight from ringside," Johnson said.
"Szpilka has some advantages like strength and endurance. He has good movement in the ring. He can also work great on his feet, but often forgets about it. But he also has flaws like inactivity during rounds where he doesn't throw a lot of punches. Sometimes he waits, and then you can see him coming when he tries to attack and it is easy to counter. He must also try to fight in bursts. Too often he hunts for two strong punches, and he won't be able to beat Jennings like that."
