WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is confident that he would topple Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO world titles.

Last Saturday, Usyk retained his world titles for the first time when he outboxed Anthony Joshua over twelve rounds in their anticipated rematch which took place in Saudi Arabia. In September of 2021, Usyk captured the world titles when he secured a unanimous decision over Joshua.

Usyk is by far the smaller man and Fury still regards him as smaller fighter who moved up in weight.

"I could beat Usyk on a week’s training! Because he’s a middleweight, I’ll put my fists right through him. When Usyk was amateur boxing, sucking his mother’s nipples, I was the British heavyweight champion," Fury told Talk Sport.

“He was boxing at 75 kilograms [165-pounds] as an amateur. 75kg!? This is why I call him a middleweight. I’ve never said it won’t be easy work. All this ‘pound-for-pound legend’ nonsense, I don’t rate him!"

Fury also took aim at Joshua for his back to back defeats at the hands of Usyk.

"I have no real interest in Usyk. Some man that nobody can really say his name? A pumped-up middleweight? It’s not my fault he’s gone and battered AJ, some bodybuilder! It’s not my fault that happened twice in a row," Fury said.

"There has only ever been me. They try to compete, but they get beat. There’s no disrespect to Joshua – but at top-level, world-class boxing, he just can’t cut it."

At the moment, the handlers for Fury and Usyk are in talks for a potential undisputed showdown. The month of December is being targeted - and Saudi Arabia appears to be the frontrunner to secure the contest.
