Tyson Fury has revealed that he will be back between the ropes very soon.
The WBC heavyweight champion claims that there is an 'imminent fight date' being announced in the coming days.
Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) was last in action in December last year when he sold out the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and secured a 10th-round stoppage win over Dereck Chisora, exclusively live on BT Sport Box Office.
This news comes after the 34-year-old and Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian who holds the WBA Super, IBF, IBO and WBO titles in the sport’s premier division, were unable to come to terms over their proposed undisputed clash which was originally eyed for Wembley Stadium on April 29.
Negotiations fell apart due to the proposed purse split for the rematch. According to reports, Usyk asked that the agreed 70-30 purse split in Fury's favour for the inaugural contest be reversed if he won.
But ‘The Gypsy King’ wanted a 50-50 split if he was to lose their first bout.
And he took to Instagram on Thursday to post a teasing video.
"So, I've got some massive, massive news, an imminent fight date,” he said. “[It’s] an absolutely monstrous fight.
“Keep tuned because the WBC world heavyweight king is back in action very, very soon.
“Peace out."
Fury is expected to eventually come back to the table and fight Usyk at some point this year –– possibly in Saudi Arabia –– but he is yet to reveal the identity of his next foe, with Andy Ruiz Jr. on a list of potential names alongside China’s Zhilei Zhang, the new
WBO interim heavyweight champion who shockingly beat England’s Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce earlier this month, for a date that Boxing Scene understands will be July 22.
Further details will be revealed in due course.
