LAS VEGAS – Richard Torrez Jnr and Guido Vianello made it official on Friday by both making weight for Saturday’s 10-round heavyweight bout at the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

Torrez tipped the scales at 229.2lbs, while Vianello weighed 242.3lbs. Despite all the talk about Torrez being a smaller heavyweight, he is only 13.1lbs lighter and 4ins shorter than Vianello.

Torrez, 12-0 (11 KOs), is a 2024 U.S. Olympic silver medalist and in the most interesting bout of his young career. A 25-year-old from Tulare, California, Torrez took his training camp to Colorado Springs, Colorado, for this fight.

Vianello, 13-2-1 (11 KOs), is coming off a stoppage win over Arslanbek Makhmudov in August. Himself an Olympian, Italy’s 30-year-old Vianello didn’t medal at the 2016 Rio Games after dropping his opening bout to Lenier Pero.

In the co-feature, 2016 Mexican Olympian Lindolfo Delgado weighed in at 139.9lbs, while Elvis Rodriguez weighed 139.6lbs. The bout serves as an IBF and WBC junior welterweight title eliminator.

Delgado, 22-0 (16 KOs), won three fights in 2024. A 30-year-old from Linares, Mexico, Delgado had been calling for a title shot, and now gets his opportunity.

Rodriguez, 17-1-1 (13 KOs), has been on a six-fight win streak since his lone career loss, to Kenneth Sims Jnr. A 29-year-old from the Dominican Republic, Rodriguez trains with Freddie Roach and re-signed with Top Rank last year. He was previously cut after losing to Sims.

The only drama of the weigh-in came from lightweight contender Abdullah Mason, 17-0 (15 KOs), who initially weighed in at 135.1lbs for his fight against Carlos Ornelas, 28-4 (15 KOs). On his second attempt, Mason came in at 135.0lbs even.
