Three-time New Jersey Golden Gloves champion Michael Torres of Piscataway, N.J. today signed a promotional contract with Top Rank. Todd duBoef, president of Top Rank, made the announcement.

Torrres, 24, has a professional record of 12-0 with 7 knockouts. He is managed by Cameron Dunkin who first saw Torres compete in the 2003 National Golden Gloves Championships in Las Vegas.

"I liked Michael the instant I saw him in the ring," Dunkin said. "Michael is so fast and so strong. He hits hard. He will fight for Top Rank in the lightweight division."

Torres was born in Yonkers, N.Y. He had an amateur record of 87-9, winning New Jersey Golden Gloves Championships in 2001, 2002 and 2003. He was ranked #2 in the U.S. as an amateur in his weight division.

Torres is scheduled to fight on the Kelly Pavlik vs Sergio Mora world championship card at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.Y. on Saturday, June 27.  Pavlik vs. Mora will be available on Pay Per View. The event is hosted by Caesars Atlantic City.
