After months of talking trash, a deal has been reached where junior welterweight rivals Ohara Davies (15-0, 12 KOs) and Josh Taylor (9-0, 8 KOs) will collide on July 8th at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow.

Davies doesn't think much of Taylor and believes he can blow him out inside the distance. The WBC Silver title will be at stake and Channel 5 will televise.

"Josh Taylor and I have been going at it on social media for quite a few months but compared to me, he's a nobody. His biggest win was against a washed-up Dave Ryan who came to lose," Davies told Isaac Robinson.

"Taylor did his bit in the amateurs but has fought nobody of any calibre as a professional. His last fight didn't get any views. Was it even televised? He's not ranked by the governing bodies. He's not a big name and he had to send his auntie to send me a Tweet the other day. She sent me a message abusing me and I wrote back to her telling her that she's a bum and so is her nephew. They're all bums just looking for attention."

Taylor won a silver medal in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, where he was beaten by Thomas Stalker in the lightweight final by 11–3.

Following the European Qualifying Event in Trabzon, Turkey, the ACB Lochend boxer qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.[6] Taylor became the first lightweight Scottish boxer to qualify for the Olympics since Dick McTaggart, who won a gold medal in Melbourne in 1956 and a bronze in Rome at the following games.

He reached a Commonwealth Games final again in 2014, this time at light welterweight. Taylor won the gold medal, defeating Junias Jonas of Namibia in the final. Taylor has also represented the British Lionhearts at the World Series of Boxing.

Taylor started his professional career in June 2015, signing with Barry McGuigan's Cyclone Promotions, and is trained by Shane McGuigan. Taylor made his debut in July 2015.
