Jermall Charlo had to work for this one as he threw a career-high 769 punches and landed a career-high 201 power punches. Charlo outlanded the game Juan Macias Montiel 258-127.

Toyota Center, Texas - WBC middleweight champion, Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) got a tougher fight than anyone expected, as he won a twelve round unanimous decision over a very gutsy Juan Macias Montiel (22-5-2, 22 KOs). 

The scores were 118-109, 119-109 and 120-108.

Montiel was coming off a first round destruction of veteran James Kirkland.

Charlo was in action back in September, when he turned back Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
