George Groves has continued his pre-fight verbal battle with Carl Froch by branding the IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion a liar. Speaking to Sky Sports News, Groves raised the temperature of the eagerly awaited clash once again.

Groves said the pair's last meeting, which saw the challenger being shoved to one side by Froch during a photocall at Wembley Stadium, was a sign that his opponent was "losing his cool".

"The thing about Carl Froch is he tells a lot of lies," said Groves, who lost the pair's first fight in a controversial ninth-round stoppage.

"He's doing his utmost to hold it together but the thing about his lies is that it's all documented - you can see my lip isn't quivering, I'm not turning red (like he said I was).

"He lost his cool. I don't need to get under his skin - if he winds himself up, that's his problem.

"The psychological battle can be a massive advantage. Fights can be won and lost before you get into the ring."

The fight is expected to attract more than 80,000 fans to Wembley on May 31, but Groves said the size of the crowd would not affect his approach.

"It would never make a difference to me how many people are there," he said.

"The size of the crowd doesn't matter to me, I'm tuned in to the task at hand.

"I can deal with the pressure of a crowd. It's going to be electric and just an awesome night of boxing.

"I have no emotion towards the crowd - I don't crave it and I don't use it as a motivation to make me angry or anything. I deal with sport as a business, you have to be clinical.

"Training's been going really well and we've got three weeks of hard graft about to start next week and then I'm good to go."
