LOS ANGELES --- Floyd Mayweather won a split decision over Oscar De La Hoya when they met in the ring in 2007 and "Money" went on to become the biggest pay-per-view superstar in the sport by knocking off fighters promoted by De La Hoya.
Marcos Maidana is the latest Golden Boy Promotions fighter to be defeated by Mayweather, who also handed Saul "Canelo" Alvarez his first loss last September.
"People say, 'You're so bitter with Mayweather, this and that, because he beat ...' No, we're not bitter," De La Hoya joked. "He beat eight of my guys, you know? Come on, I'm the promoter here. These fighters ... he beat all of my guys. There's no bitter. It's nothing personal."
