Eddie Hearn claims that 60,000 tickets have been sold for the upcoming fight between Chris Eubank Jnr and Conor Benn on April 26.

The fight will be held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, which can host just under 63,000 fans for events.

The demand for a fight between Eubank and Benn stems from the iconic rivalry of their fathers, Chris Eubank Snr and Nigel Benn. They fought twice in the 90s, with Eubank Snr winning the first fight, and the second finishing in a controversial draw when it seemed Benn had done enough to claim victory.

Eubank Jnr and Conor Benn originally agreed to fight in October 2022, but their bout was cancelled due to Benn twice testing positive for the banned substance clomifene.

The fight needed no calamities to hype it up after the rivalry of their fathers’ and the PEDs scandal. However, Eubank Jnr decided to strike Benn in the face with an egg at the launch press conference on Tuesday, sending the internet into a frenzy.

The video of the infamous “egg-slap” was viewed by millions worldwide and boosted a huge demand for tickets – over 120,000 fans queued for Wednesday’s presale. One of the promoters of the event in April, Eddie Hearn, has claimed the event is nearing a sell out after just one day on general sale.

Hearn says that 60,000 tickets have been sold with few remaining for purchase.

Asked how much bigger Eubank striking Benn with an egg at the Manchester press conference had made the fight, as well as the rest of the announcement build-up, Hearn replied: “It's hard to really quantify. I mean, you know, we’ve done over 60,000 tickets. I mean, what fight does that, right? There's a few thousand left of different packages and stuff like that. I do feel like it would have sold out anyway, but probably the speed of the sell-out… When you look at it, it was back page of every paper, and some front pages.”
