Youtube star turned boxer, Jake Paul, believes his upcoming opponent, Tommy Fury, became a worse fighter by having his father, John Fury, as head trainer.
Fury, the younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, will face Paul on Sunday in Saudi Arabia.
Fury is undefeated with an 8-0 record and 4 knockouts, but most observers believe his competition has been very soft.
Paul, also unbeaten with a record of 6-0 and 4 knockouts, has yet to face an actual boxer - with the bulk of his boxing wins coming against MMA veterans. Paul's last win was a tough decision victory over MMA legend Anderson Silva.
Fury has not taken part in a sanctioned fight since April of last year.
John Fury is confidently predicting that Paul is going to receive a one-sided beating this weekend.
The 26-year-old Paul, however, feels Fury could have become a better fighter - had he trained with another coach.
"I’m getting 33 percent better each year, because I’ve only been boxing three years. I am increasing exponentially, whereas Tommy's done it for 12 years, so how much can his skill level really improve? He’s really stuck in his ways of how he is as a boxer, especially with his dad training him," Paul told The Sun.
"He’s worked with other trainers who are way better, but his dad is actually hindering him and making him a worse fighter."
The two rivals were scheduled to collide on two prior occasions. In 2021, Fury withdrew from their bout with a training camp injury. In 2022, the fight was once again called off after Fury was unable to secure entry into the United States.
