At the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, junior welterweight Victor Ortiz (25-2-1, 20KOs) stopped Antonio Diaz (46-6-1, 29KOs) in six rounds after Diaz's corner stopped the fight.

Ortiz came out very tight. Not much action in the first round as both guys were feeling each other out. More of a slow pace in the second round. Ortiz kept it a slow paced boxing match. Diaz landed a big right in the third but Ortiz countered to drop Diaz. Ortiz went to finish him but Diaz held on and was able to survive to the bell. The pace slowed down again in the fourth and fifth. At the end of the sixth round, the corner of Diaz stopped the fight because he sustained a very big cut above his left eye in the sixth from an Ortiz right hand and it was bleeding bad.
