The long awaited rematch between IBF heavyweight champion Chris Byrd (39-2-1, 20 KOs) and the Ukrainian giant, Wladimir Klitschko (45-3, 40 KOs). Byrd, heads out to  Germany for the third time to even the score with Wladimir. Byrd is currently 1-1 in Germany, besting Wlad's older brother Vitali in April of 2000, and losing a 12 round decision to the younger Wladimir in October of 2000. Currently, Byrd is riding a nine-fight win streak and is recognized by many as the best American heavyweight in the country.

One of more talked about storylines in the bout is the fact if Klitschko wins, 3 of the 4 major heavyweight titles will be held by European fighters from the former Soviet Union. Some experts have said that if Byrd loses later today, the long reign of American heavyweights may be over. Klitschko is looking to use Byrd to raise his profile in the heavyweight division and pick up the IBF strap in the process.
