Ex-heavyweight champ Riddick Bowe have pulled out of his planned comeback fight in Karlstad, Sweden, September 15, citing the negative publicity he has received in the Swedish media in regards to his medical status.
Pugnus Boxing Promotion writes in a press release that Bowe was paid in advance in May and that they are looking to take legal action against Bowe. According to Pugnus Bowe passed all medical tests.
Replacing the ex-champ is another American, Joey Abell, 16-1, who will face tough Russian Daniel Peret over four rounds. Abell scored another KO on Friday night but "Shrek" Peret, 8-8, could very well prove to be Joey´s toughest opponent to date.
