Behemoth strongman rivals will be ditching the barbells for the boxing ring to settle their yearslong beef.

Hafthor Bjornsson, who on Saturday broke the world deadlift record (501kg) and an actor who played The Mountain on “Game of Thrones,” will face fellow competitor Eddie Hall in a boxing match, Bjornsson announced on Instagram on Monday.

After a weekend of back and forth bantering, a fight was agreed upon for September 2021 in Las Vegas. The showdown between Bjornsson, 31, and Hall, 32, does not have a venue yet, or a specific date, but it will be staged on pay per view and be promoted by Core Sports.

“It’s official,” said Bjornsson. “The Mountain vs The Beast. The next year and a half of my career will be solely dedicated towards this fight. I can’t wait to have my family ringside as I throw down. I’m coming for you Eddie Hall.”

Bjornsson broke Hall’s record with a 1,104 pound-lift. Hall, most notable for winning the World's Strongest Man competition in 2017, had pulled off 1,102 pounds for the previous deadlift record in 2016.

Hall, who's sparred with Hughie Fury in the past, posted a video of himself signing the contract on social media Sunday.

“It’s done. There is no backing out,” Hall said. “I hope you're happy, because I get to make a load of money stepping into the ring with you and do business, which is absolutely fantastic. I'm going to train for this [fight] like I have never trained for anything before. I'm going to swim out to those dark waters, and I want you to come with me ... I don't give a f--k anymore. I'm not turning back, you will, because you're a p-ssy ... It all ends in the ring, and that's where I am going to teach you a f--king lesson.”

Core Sports has previously produced events like the World’s Ultimate Strongman, Sovereign Boxing Championship and Reign MMA Championship.

The company describes themselves as an “UAE-based firm envisioning to create and develop domestic sporting events and festivals, leveraging the country’s strong tourism and sports infrastructure.”
