One of the most respected trainers in the sport, Eddy Reynoso, is about to land another client.

The man who is best known as being the head trainer of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, is now slated to become the coach of undefeated former world champion Luis 'Pantera' Nery, according to ESPN Deportes.

Nery trained in the last quarter of 2019 under Freddie Roach in California for a contest against former world champion Emanuel 'Manny' Rodriguez in November. However, the fight did not happen because Rodriguez walked away when Nery came overweight and was unable to make the bantamweight limit.

This will be Nery's first full-time camp with Reynoso. Last August they had an initial approach, but in the end Nery chose to go to train with Roach while Reynoso took care of Canelo, Óscar Valdez and Ryan García.

'Pantera' will be accompanied by his advisor, Mauricio Sánchez, to the Reynoso camp in California.

Considered as one of the most talented fighters in the Mexican boxing scene, Nery had to deal with trainer changes and issues with weight over the last few years.

Nery is aligned with Premier Boxing Champions and Zanfer Promoters. Heavyweight contender Frank Sanchez, who is also under PBC, is now being trained by Reynoso.

The hard puncher saw action twice in 2019, with stoppage wins over McJoe Arroyo and Juan Carlos Payano.

Nery is hoping that by bringing himself together with Reynoso and his team, he will raise his level of work and break away from the bad image that has plagued him in the last two years.
