Hamza Uddin (1-0) made a glittering start to his professional career with a stunning third-round knockout against Santiago San Eusebio (3-8-2, 2 KOs) on the preliminary undercard for Peter McGrail vs Marc Leach tonight on the NXTGEN card in Liverpool.

Uddin started his debut with real spite, landing big right hands behind an arrogantly low guard. He continued with real flair, unable to miss with a right uppercut-left hand combination.

Uddin fired out back-to-back double jabs to open the second round, a stunning left hook to the head soon followed with San Eusebio already looking in big trouble. Uddin sunk a left to the body, which drew a wince from his opponent's face. A right uppercut ended another impressive round from the debutant.

A big left hand to the head put Eusebio on the canvas at the minute mark into the third and while the Frenchman got to his legs wearily on the count of six, referee Howard Foster waved off the fight with no dispute.

Flyweight Maisey Rose Courtney (6-0) continued the undefeated start to her career with a points win over 39-year-old Giuseppina Di Stefano (7-2-1).

Courtney started assertively behind her jab, further dominating the opening round with rare but  calculated right hands. The Englishwoman started to let her hands go more in the second, right hands to the head and body started replacing the left jab from the first, with Courtney appearing to be enjoying herself.

Di Stefano looked out of her depth by the time round three was called. Courtney’s speed, movement and variation had left the Italian with few options. A similar theme continued throughout the fourth and fifth rounds with Di Stefano’s attacks being further punished by Courtney’s counterpunching and footwork although a rare Di Stefano right hand landed towards the end of the fifth.

Di Stefano would press harder in the sixth, but Courtney worked well on the backfoot to pick the Italian veteran off with her jab. However, Di Stefano was starting to build a slight momentum. Di Stefano again pressed, but her attempts were obvious and wild. Courtney would land a sharp right hand to the head on the minute mark and would follow up with a pair of left’s to the body to close the round.

Courtney boxed her way through the eighth and final round with the referee scoring the bout 78-75 in her favor.

Local lightweight Frankie Stringer opened the prelims. Stringer (7-0) took on Brazilian Jonatas Rodrigo Gomes de Oliveira (6-8, 5 KOs) over six rounds.

There was little action until Stringer landed a pair of good right hands to the head of Gomes de Oliveira in the fourth.

Things picked up again at the start of the fifth with Stringer landing a left to the head as the two men traded. The Liverpudlian pressed the action, landing a variety of punches on his Brazilian opponent for the rest of the round.

The onslaught continued into the sixth, but the fight went the distance. Referee Howard Foster scored it at 60-54 for the still undefeated Strigner.
