Germany’s Agon Sports, headed by Ingo Volckmann, has signed Cuban stars Erislandy Alvarez, Arlen Lopez, Julio Cesar La Cruz and Lazaro Alvarez.

All four were big stars in Olympic boxing and made their professional debuts while still being amateurs.

Erislandy "La Amenaza" Alvarez, 24, won a gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics. He's 3-0 as a pro fighter with all three fights taking place 2023-24 before going to France.

Arlen Lopez, 32, won gold in both the 2016 (at middleweight) and 2020 Olympics (at light heavy), and claimed bronze in 2024 when campaigning back at middleweight. "only" reached the semifinals in 2024 (back at middleweight). He fought twice as a pro in 2022 and once in 2024.

Julio Cesar De La Cruz, 35, won gold medals in the 2016 and 2020 Olympics at heavyweight. He lost to Loren Alfonso in the first round of the 2024 Olympics. He's also 3-0 as a pro.

Lazaro Alvarez, 34, did not claim any Olympic golds but he does have three bronzes to his name while campaigning at lightweight and junior welter (2012, 2016 and 2020). He also won the world championships 2011, 2013 and 2015. Alvarez is 6-0.

All four have joined Agon Sports where their compatriot William Scull holds the IBF super middleweight title.

Agon Sport has announced that an event is being planned at the five-star Melia Internacional Hotel in Varadero in April, which may be the first professional boxing event in Cuba since the days before Fidel Castro took over.

Five fights are in the works, all for WBA sub-titles, with the Agon debut for Spanish-Moroccan super feather Moussa Gholam, 22-1, topping the bill.
