There's a good one hour documentary about him on a Netflix series called..."World's Most Wanted". I think that's what it's called anyway. They also got episodes on Matteo Denaro and El Mayo Zambada.

If we're talking worldwide, it would have to be one of the cartel guys, right? Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada is still out there, and El Mencho also comes to mind. These are two of the most wanted guys on earth.
      worldwide.

but it's hard for me to put the cartels in it because they are more into drugs and killings. unlike the mafias who have control even in world politics and other legit businesses.

Idk man, the reach of the Mexican cartel into government has a very deep history. There's evidence that their reach has went as high up to the presidents of their own country. There's also evidence that they have worked with the CIA.

Yes they seem more ruthless & savage (they are) and considerably less tactful than some other organized crime groups, but I think they're almost certainly more sophisticated at the same time than a lot of us give them credit for. The money they generate goes easily into the billions and you'd be hard pressed to find criminal organizations anywhere on the planet that would be in the same zip code as them when it comes to profits.

I read somewhere that El Mayo has been on the DEA's radar since the 80s. There's currently a 15 million dollar reward for him. Think about how wild that is that he's been known about for that long -- and has never been apprehended once.

I don't think there's any doubt that he has been protected by the Mexican government to be able to avoid capture for that long. He's like 73 now.

Probably the #1 narco journalist in the world -- Annabelle Hernandez, wrote a book on El Mayo, and she claims that he was actually the #1 guy for all of these years. Not Chapo. Chapo had all the publicity, but (according to her) Chapo couldn't make any significant moves without him. Zambada reportedly had final say. I think even Chapo himself said as much in court.

By the way, for any of you Narcos fans (the Netflix series), this is a must read. It's on Amado Carillo Fuentes (the main player from the final season). Amado was the #1 cartel guy in the mid-90s. He reportedly died on the operating table as he was attempting to get plastic surgery to change his appearance. The Netflix Narcos series hints at him remaining alive at the end during a short scene after the credits began rolling.

This fascinating article touches on that. At least one US federal agent claims that he has credible sources that say Amado is still alive to this day.

Here's the link to the story.

                      Huero “Shy" Shylock.

There is no Mafia in the USA that is more powerful than the California Mexican Mafia. The reason is, La Eme controls the inside. There was even a time in History that the Eme was going to take over the TJ cartel.
