Does working out your traps. increase your punching power?

Anatomically speaking, no. Traps don't help punching power, only because there is no "load and fire" or "contract and release" stage that the trap muscle undergoes when throwing a punch. It does play a big role in boxing, however. Strong traps mean a good connection between your head and upper back/shoulders, because the muscle is much larger than people think. If the trap muscle is strong, your head is less likely to move like a bobble-head if you catch one to the cranium. Less head bobble means less vertigo interuption. Very, very good thing.
