  • Best boxing glove for beginner?

    Hey everybody,

I started boxing at a boxing gym here in Austin, Tx a week ago, and so far I LOVE it and wish my work schedule allowed me to go more than 4 times a week.

But anyways, he has a shelf with about 20 pairs of gloves that he allows everybody to use and share. It's awesome that he provides those, but they are very beaten up and it takes for ever to find a matching pair. So, I wanted to buy my own gloves that I could use for myself. I've been looking on ebay/amazon/title boxing and I see tons of them. I've been thinking of going with a pair of Title boxing gloves, but not too sure which ones I should go with. I'm not really wanting to pay $100 just yet, but I also dont want to pay for a pay of $15 gloves.

What would you all recommend I start out with?

    Thanks in advance!

Three brands. Just spend the money and get some Winning Pro gloves with the laces. Title makes **** gloves. Protect your hands early, trust me.

    Winning (Best glove)

    Reyes

    Grant
Can't seem to find their site.

It's best to pay a little more and get a decent glove which will last for years and save your hand. Believe me it'll be cheaper in timespan and getting your hand broken or injured is worse than paying some more.
I couldn't afford any such thing like Reyes, Winning or Grant, these are 1st class gloves and the dollar currency is too high in my country. So I go with 2nd class gloves: Everlast and Adidas. Everlast is not that durable and they look rooky, and shiddy if you ask me. I'm using Adidas sparring gloves and they feel great with climate cool stuff. (current: Adidas Shadow Boxing Gloves)

I recommend Sabas gloves, they are very good quality and cost far less than Winning, Grant and Reyes. I think they are going for $115.00 right now.

Spend the most you can. Cheap gloves mean you buy twice and you end up spending more in the long run.

However, unless you are loaded. Don't go spending 200/300 bucks on something straight out.

Try to stay away from the gloves you find in the big sports chain stores, the brands them selves are ok (if you buy their flagship top glove) but the mass produced ones are poor.

Look into Thai boxing gloves, not as slender as a boxing glove, but nothing wrong with them. Sandee, twins, flirted, Yokko make very good full leather (not synthetic quality gloves)

If you don't have much money and providing you are not over 180lbs and can only afford 1 pair. Go with 14 oz and up. They will be good for both bag and sparring. If your over 180, minimum of 16oz

True but not his budget and not worth unless he is a
                ambitious amateur or pro.

Sabas is the way to go here.
High quality gloves on the level of Winning, in my opinion great looks and very affordable.

                  Cool, thanks man!

I think I'm going to go with the Sabas, but all the cool colors are out of stock. I'm gonna wait two weeks and hope that they stock back up on the white/black/red gloves.

Its a shot in the dark, but would you happen to know how often they restock?

They seem to restock every couple weeks, but you never know what colors will be stocked, seems hit or miss.
