  • Why are back muscles so important in boxing?

I see alot of really huge backed boxers, ALOT, I know the midsection and lats have to be solid to connect the power of the lower body to the shoulders more effeciently. But why the need for such huge back development?

Isnt it just adding unnecessary muscle that wont increase power much but will tax your cardio and put you in a heavier weight division?

Creates a more solid posture, more strength pulling the opposite shoulder you are punching with pulling the shoulder back, and assuming it's from training for boxing it would be in an effort to get your hands back faster.

      you cant punch then

If you ahve to pull your punch back you dont have a punch you have a push. It should come back all by itself as fast or faster than it went out.

Except he isn't talking about pulling a punch back before throwing it and you don't know what you're talking about, when you punch your opposite shoulder is naturally going to get pulled back, if you're throwing a punch and your other shoulder isn't moving at all then you're throwing an arm punch, if even that.

When you throw a right hand do you not turn into it ?, or a left hook ?.

Of course it goes back but it goes back due to hip rotation not because of the back muscles. Anyway I sense you are a trolltard

You're right, because when you turn into the punch (or turn your shoulder over) your back is not involved at all, in fact when you turn your hips your back is completely still and there is no movement whatsoever, why are you not a boxing trainer ?.

I started practicing frequently kind of low jabs and i feel my back muscles do hurt just as when you use a muscle group after a long time or the first time.
