  • Treadmill running vs Road Running?

Is one less taxing on the joints? While following mileage on the podometer it tells me that I am running three miles A LOT faster than I would on the road. 30% faster perhaps? Is there any specific reason for this?

I read if you put it at 1 percent incline in equivlents road .

Do it right: If you want to mimic road running, raise the incline of the treadmill to 1 percent before starting your run. Researchers in England found that that's the degree of treadmill elevation that most closely approximates outdoor running.

On a treadmill, the surface underneath you is moving on its own and doesn't require the same strength/endurance to move forward as you do when running on the road where the surface isn't moving.

treadmill does a lot of the work for you. Dont worry about 'taxing the joints' worry about whether you are working hard or not. Incline or not i guarantee you that you feel a proper run more than you do a treadmill run

Road running any day of the week. You tend to get a better workout because of the elements of the weather and you're not on a flat surface. I don't know many people that are in boxing or any sport practically, that use treadmills.

I always found doing real road work was twice as hard as running on a treadmill. I always assumed it was because the belt on the treadmill was already moving and you didn't need to propel yourself as much.

7:25. Haha. I usually see people and myself included using treadmill for a warmup before a workout.
