  • Pilates for Boxing?

Has anyone tried Pilates exercises to help with boxing?

I gave it a try after my gf suggested a few things to try.

I've been doing the below and it actually gives me a pretty decent workout, with endurance and working my back muscles.

If anyone is interested - the below video the exercise starts at 2:18

Would be interested to hear anyone give it a try and what they think.

I dunno seems kinda redundant..Between all the punches a boxer throws and all the pushups they do the triceps get pretty darn strong..If the isolated muscle is worked and needed for more typical boxing training the I would not waste the muscle effort on it..

And it looks way to peaceful, relaxing and healthy...This is boxing! it's better to be a bit Disturbed and unbalanced.

Did you at least try the exercise before poo-pooing everything?

Most top athletes do some form of pilates in their training.
I did it before a 1,400 mile cycle ride and it really helped me, its alot about form and posture aswell as core strength and breathing.
Done badly its easy done properly its insanely difficult.
I'd say give it a go. There are also alot of moves you can do simultaneously once you get more advanced. I only just broke in to that.
