  • Power difference 10 oz. fighting gloves

Would you guys say theres a noticable difference in power between the 10 oz match gloves and 14/16 oz training gloves? In a year of good sparring I havent knocked anyone down, nor have I been knocked down myself. However in the first fights of my sparring/training partners, I did see them nearly knock down their opponents, or at least make them stumble on the legs.

Is this pure down to the glove sizes or..?

i dont think theres a trainer that would let you spar with 10s...its 14+ i rarely see 12 even, its the power not the gloves bro

lol i think i didnt explain well. im not looking for a ko in sparring. i was just wondering if that diff in glove sizes would make a huge diiff in power, becos i saw all my partners nearly knocking their opps down, while they havent ko ed anyone in sparring as well

yes its amazing how much of a difference a pair of 10's compared to 16's make. Like seriously its a joke how much faster your hands are in 10's not to mention a reduction in padding

theres def a lil more power due to the +speed, and lack of padding...prob i'm seein is like someone said..if a trainer is letten peeps wear 10oz gloves in sparring and letten guys go all out like that..i'd say bad trainer...there is a time where one can go pretty hard..but sparring is for "practice" one should slow down and really work on the negative things of their fighting style...Offense is easy pretty much...no need to showboat against the peeps u train with...now...if u go into another gym to spar...then...one can go a lil harder..thats acceptable..but if its same gym training then it should b slower and more about work....now not sayen yall are goin that hard..mayb just some weaklings whom cant take punches..but if they are sparren w 10oz then yup someone dont know what they are doin coaching

It definitely makes a big difference in speed. I don't know about power. I can hit harder wearing 16oz or 14oz. 12oz I sometimes hurt my hands. But you should like I should, focus more on boxing skillz and worry less about power. The knock out will come in a combination. Don't worry so much about doing it in 1 or 2 blows. In our gym we only spar with 16oz gloves. Outside of that, train with whatever oz you want.

I checked gyms around here where I live and most of folks are using 10-12 oz. Pretty ****** I guess.

I hate the 10 oz a.b.a approved gloves I box in. I can never make a comfortable fist in them and when ever I land it feels like it's got nowt behind it and just bounces off. I'd say that the power comes from comfortable gloves that you can relax and throw sharp punches in.

my coaches have us all rock 12oz gloves for sparring, the idea is that our timing wont be thrown off by switching gloves before a fight. my old gym though, we all used 16'z unless it was a kid from another gym
