  • How Important in boxing do think wrist size is

Do you think Rist size is a major factor in boxing. I dont have very big wrists but I noticed some big punches like Mike Tyson dont have very big rists either. I have alot of problems with my wrists and that is what stopped me from becoming serious about boxing. I have broken both my wrists. Once in football, and once boxing, and then I broke my left wrist again snowboarding. I think if I boxed seriously I would break my wrist again.

I can punch really hard though. Especially my left jab is really really good. It is very hard and snapping. When I used to be in shape if I hit anybody with my left jab for instance in the chest it would leave a big bruise on anybody that took it. And my overhand right is a very hard punch too, because I have pretty fast hands. And if I get into fights its like my trademark punch. Just a quick straight accurate overhand right on the chin. I knocked a guy unconcious once with just one quick overhand right that was alot bigger than me. I know how to throw punches properly because my uncle was a pretty good boxer. And he taught me the boxing techniques and **** when I was reallly young. He was a really good boxer, he sparred with Hector Macho Camacho.

My uncle was amazingly strong I am surprised He never went farther in boxing. He was so strong he could grab on to a pole and hold his body straight with hands outstretched.

having big hands helps..take a look at curtis stevens hands, they're huge

the wrist will get bigger as you hit the bag,or if you do clean&jerks with a small amount of weight its a good wrist exercise, makes them sore if you do it enough,or you can do knuckle pushups if you dont have a weight set

thats good u have a jab and overhand right, now you should develop a short left hook so you can still **** on the inside and youll be set...

        hmmmm

people with big wrist are useally bigboned overall, in other words they are heavier and punch harder.

like some guy said earlier, wrap them good and use light weights to train you forearms

Wrist size is one indication of frame size. Tyson has a smaller frame, thus his wrists are smaller than those of the six foot plus heavies. If your wrists look really small in proportion to your body perhaps you can lose a little weight and drop down in weight class. If you are at a low bodyfat and your wrists still seem tiny then you just need to be extra careful wrapping them.

It will be a disadvantage but not a huge one. Big strong wrists keep your arms straight when punching. A weak wrist could mean that your jabs and crosses will be slightly crooked at the moment of impact, and thus less effective.

no disrespect but did you take this topic just so you can provide 2 paragraphs of bragging about yourself/uncle? that had nothing to do with wrist size

The answer to your question is No. I find it strange that you interpret my question somehow as "bragging." That is a very strange way to percieve what I wrote. I dont have the best build for boxing probably. Probably better for sprinting or distance running. I never could get down to like 154 pounds or a 160 pounds I dont think. I already dont have alot of muscle mass or body fat and I weight 179 pounds and I am 6,1.

The only reason I mentioned myself or my uncles boxing abilities is to show some people that I have boxed before (in a gym) and I do know something about boxing.
