  • Weighted vest

The weighted vest, in my opinion, is the best tool for a boxer since the heavy bag. I train with it 3 times a week, and it does wonders. If ur off balance when you throw your shots it will be more evident with the vest on, and training with it makes your movement and punches alot faster. The only downside i can say about it is it kinda has the ankle weights effect, u know when u take them off you feel alot faster but only for a short amount of time till your body gets used to not having them on. But if you train constantly with it you wouldnt really get that effect.

      Finally a decent thread man.

Do you use it during most of your workout? All of it? Roadwork?

Do you feel a big difference in sparring after wearing it for a long time, and then sparring without it?

You can get them of ebay for a good price if your in the UK. They come as a 10kg vest you can pick them up for about £30 but there a lot more expensive of sugarrays but properly a lot better quality.

i think its a gimmick.. reminds me of those cage fighters sprinting with elastic bands tying them to the wall for "explosive power". completely unnecessary unless you can easily train for 5 hours without it. you got to get the basics before you try all that roy jones ****

If weighted vests and elastic bands don't work, why do you think people who use weights get stronger? It's the same thing, added resistance. What one have you bought KJ? I think it would be invaluable, especially with pullups and pushups!

I got the 20 pound one...I dont really use it when I run, but as far as getting my rounds in on the bag and shadowboxing I wear it. It also works like a charm when doing body weight exercises like pull ups and push ups.

I've been really interested in getting one for running, pull ups and sit ups etc... I find my training sessions needs an increase in intensity and this seems the perfect solution. I have been searching what business's in the UK sell the X vest, no where sells it! There is a copy made by Reebok but doesn't look as good quality as the X vest, and you have to buy loads more weights, it comes with only 9 lbs... If anyone knows where an outlet in the UK sells them let me know! It seems looks like a good idea to buy importing rights to this product, watch this space...
