  • Cotto's corner using vaseline in his nose... Is that effective?

I noticed that Cotto's corner was filling Cotto's nose with vaseline after it was bleeding in the 2nd or 3rd round. Is it effective to use vaseline inside a fighters nose to stop bleeding? I would think it would block the nasal passage and hinder breathing.

    Any thoughts?

    Did it affect his breathing?

All i know is that cotto should change his corner and hire one of the mayweathers to teach him how to box backwards and defensive.

It probably would block the airway.

        ,

        no its fine,

you just put it around the edge of the nosrtils to try and stop the blood from flowing out,

ive done it during sparing sessions, works well

I've been thinking that for along time he definatley has the talent to see all the punches coming and openings to use the maywheathers techniques. it seems like he doesn't get any advice in his corner a real vet would be a big help. he's out grown his uncle cause he doesn't relly respect him. what fighter trains himself.

They use adrenaline chloride in the vasoline which helps the blood sort of "clot"

Very true. so does blocking up the nose for a while. I suspect it he can breathe too or he won't do it.

Yes, me too. I tis normally one nostril so it is OK. Vaseline is slippy too so it tends to stay towards edges anyway and after 20 secs or so it is pretty much 100% clear. By then the blood would have clot a bit too. The blood would be blocking it anyway a bit, so you would have to use mouth for breathing anyway.

It's applied because it is the most effective manner in which to apply the adrenaline. Most trainers will apply some prior to bout, to help prevent nose bleeding during the fight.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Do you mean his mouth? The nose is not as important as some people think. People should stop acting like women and stick some Vicks up there! It is gooood, it's goood, it's goood!
