  • Is is boxing the toughest sport in the world?

"That's the sport that demands the most from the athletes who compete in it. It's harder than football, harder than baseball, harder than basketball, harder than hockey or soccer or cycling or skiing or fishing or billiards or any other of the 60 sports we rated".

What do you guys think? Is boxing really the toughest sport in the world. The most dangerous and risky?

        Without a doubt.
First of all its not a team game, if you have a bad night at the office it isnt possible your team can carry you and if you lose you lose no scapegoating, just humiliation for you to endure. Youre not losing a game of basketball or football where you can go home after and relax you risk being knocked out infront of hundreds of thousands including your friends and family. Training wise you usually isolate yourself from the world and your family for long periods of time which can all go to waste in the blink of a eye or if you were lazy for even one second during a fight. Its a brutal sport excluding the knockout and fighting aspect. As they age famous boxers start feeling the damages and often up dead due to these effects.

Harder and capable of sparking 99% of people out in 2 seconds

You instinctively respect pro boxers more than athletes of other sports

Sports can be very different, I mean f1 can kill and has killed. Is that even more dangerous and skillful? I personally would say so.

Totally agree. Boxing is is an unforgivable sport. One bad night can change your entire career. In team sports even losing a couple of games in a row will not hurt you that bad. In boxing losing a couple of fights can effect future fights.

I wouldn’t completely agree with that. The difference is that one boxing match is often the equivalent to 1/2 a season in other sports so you have to take that into account.

In football (not American, but same principle applies) you may have a European cup game - ultimately the top end teams are measured on that success or failure. In some cases managers sacked based on that single game. That is no different to boxing matches for big fights. The skill of being part of a team which play consistently to a certain game style versus an individual is very different of course but it’s just not comparable.

                    In combat sports particularly striking

Your opponent can push you much harder than you were expecting

There’s no low key cruising. Much more pressure to perform in boxing
