  • The Issue of "Stacking" Handwraps

Question: if it's considered illegal and cheating in one state why is it legal in another? Stacking handwraps creates a casting effect no matter what state you're in.

    Some throwback comments from Bhop

and for the ultimate proof that "stacking" is cheating let's hear from the perpetrator himself.

https://********/49Biacb3Urw (this video is Fernando Vargas describing the cast like power in Tito's punches. he said it felt like stones. but of course Tito's fans called him a salty hater because of the L. but Hopkins whooped Titos ass there's no salt there. Vargas said he didn't even know how many times he was knocked down while at the hospital. he was beaten senseless.)

https://********/5k42zcWPVrc (in this video William Joppy says Tito doesn't belong in the HOF due to a career of illegal handwraps. of course he was called sore loser like Vargas. but again it was Hopkins who first protested, is Bhop a sore loser?. and its strange how Joppy got folded vs Tito in five rounds but was able to withstand nonstop punishment vs Hopkins for 12 rounds.)

https://********/2x1lJUFaHXk (go to 1:50 mark. Tim Bradley accuses Pacquiao of stacked handwraps.)

gotta listen close. hes talking to random members of the press about what gloves he and manny might wear on fight night.

"he probably gonna be wearing reds, eights (8 oz), double stacked gloves--hands, hand wraps."

    ~~
https://********/ddVza046kDw (in this video you'll see Virgil Hunter protest the "stacking" of Kessler's wraps. a member of the commission makes Kesslers team fix it. and then the rest of the video is when Manny stacked his wraps vs Margarito.)

    ~~
https://********/YLtAxlAK1oA (in this video Emmanuel Steward calls attention to BOTH Manny and Margarito applying tape directly on skin. ignore the commentary by the idiot who posted it just listen to Steward.)

so it seems like this wrapping style is illegal in NYC but legal everywhere else. Is that correct? but my thing is if this wrapping technique hardens like a cast then it should be considered cheating everywhere.

Well it doesn't matter since Eric Gomez just came and said "it’s going to be allowed for the second fight"

He also said "It’s not illegal to stack, it’s just another method to wrap his hands. You’re just not using tape or graze, you’re using both." So GGG has that same option now.

I knew this already but, reading it again, all this tells me is that Sanchez is a bit of a pushover.

yeah, team canelo know exactly what they are doing by wrapping it that way. its cheating, but then again team golovkin can do this same thing now and even it up.

I hope Golovkin stacks his wraps too this time

Let GGG do it too and then it's ok I guess. I don't believe you are creating a cast by stacking but it's definitley harder than if you wrap your hands the normal way, but you can't call it cast since there's no hard object in there. I used to stack wrap my hands and after I was done sparring I never felt like my wraps were like a cast or that they were harder than before I sparred even though my hands used to sweat like crazy in the gloves.

The concept of cast or plaster of paris is having a material in your wraps that hardens with time or moisture and then you have loaded gloves, THAT'S definitley against the rules and you can even get sent to jail for this. Another room for cheating is gloves having less than normal padding around the knuckles, whether the glove manufacturer did it on purpose to favor one fighter or whether the trainer or the fighter manipulated the gloves, these are things people still do in boxing today to gain an edge especially with A side fighters, that's why trainers MUST pay attention to every little detail when it comes to gloves and to threaten to go home if things weren't done properly.

the thing is both Hopkins and Virgil Hunter have protested the stacking of wraps and both said it creates a casting effect. so what I'm saying is if it creates a cast in New York then it creates the cast everywhere. or what people are saying is if Tito had fought Hopkins in Vegas that Naazim would be cool with the wraps then? I doubt it. and the smoking gun for me is how Tito disintegrated Joppy in five rounds but Joppy never dropped while taking a 12 round beating from Hopkins, a more natural middleweight.

and I agree GGG needs to stack wrap his hands too then. fight fire with fire. he also needs to eat one of those clenbuterol steaks to even the playing field.

Fernando Vargas and Reid were two boxers that were never the same after Tito. and Tito caught Hopkins with flush hooks at times and had zero effect.

You know all this canelo talk of "GOLOVKIN IS DEFIANLTEY GETTING KNOCKED OUT IN REMATCH" sounds fishy now we know he been popped for a drug that does enhance power and now the wraps.. dude sneaky as ****

I don't believe what Hopkins said is true. Tape is not cement. The way Trinidad wrapped his hands is legal almost everywhere but New York. Trinidad was a devastating puncher because of hand speed and leverage not extra tape. Vargas needed a reason for his KO loss but he just got blasted out by a better fighter. Trinidad was the one who cracked Mayorga's iron jaw long after he lost to Hopkins. Canelo will wrap his hands the same way and he will not KO GGG in my opinion.

You're going to make Robbie cry, those guys DKSAB compared to Robbie who knows better than them even though he has never worked in the boxing game at all, but trust me Robbie knows more because he played Fight Night a few years ago.
