Respect to Wepner for refusing to engage in the fake racial conflict angle to promote the fight.

Didn't believe in it, didn't do it. At least I hope that's why...

Edit: Can anyone tell me whether or not serving 2 years & change on a 10 year state sentence in America is as good a result as it sounds?? Or is that kinda normal?

Rocky paid him an undisclosed amount
I'd say that was a confession in itself

Sadly, it is normal. It is why repeat offenders are so common and account for most of the crime/drug related violations here.

Ty for the info, here (UK) you're doing at least 5 on a 10 & most likely it'll be about 7 years served.

I will be honest, I never understood the parole thing. If they want someone to serve 5 years, sentence them to 5, make them serve 5, and then release them with their entire debt to society fulfilled and a true chance to rebuild their lives properly without the stigma of "he /she should still be in jail" hanging over their head. Here in the US, it has become a near standing joke that even violent offenders get out quickly, and then with the parole requirements hanging over their heads, going back to crime is just easier. People getting sentenced to 15-20 for truly harsh things than being out in 1/3 of the time. Then officials are stunned when they reoffend.

Feels like a lose/lose kind of thing.

Sorry. Rant over. It is just an equal amount of depressing and infuriating. Sounds like there is one thing we can learn from our allies across the pond.
