  • How come there aren’t many Knockouts in Womens boxing?

This isn’t meant in any disrespect way to womens boxing, I do enjoy a womens boxing fight now and then, although I’ve NEVER seen an actual knockout in womens boxing and I don’t think one even exists. And I can’t think why.

Do they use extra padded gloves? I know the rounds are shorter but still, a knockout punch is a knockout punch.

All the fights almost always seem to go to the scorecards. And the crazy thing is, the fights I’ve seen both fighters are just swinging away hell for leather, you’d think there’d be at least a knockdown but they always seem to just firm it somehow.

Just not built the same way as dudes for knockout power (though obvious exceptions). I reckon if you gave ‘em 3 min rounds and 12 round fights then you’d see more knockouts just purely from exhaustion.

You don't watch that much then. Knockouts do happen, although they're not that common, by design. There's a few women with greater than 50% stoppage rates.

It's pretty straightforward. They only have 2 min rounds, and only 10 to work with even in championship fights. Most "knockouts" in men's fights aren't one-shot stops either. They do some damage, and then the fighter needs to pursue a TKO stoppage by landing enough damage that the other fighter can't get out of the round. It often takes a minute or so to get the stoppage after they wobble the fighter with a clean shot. In a women's fight, unless they get the fighter wobbled in the first minute of the round, they don't have enough time to work with.

Just look at how many stoppages in men's fights happen in the third minute of the round. It's most of them. Look at how many happen after 30 minutes of the fight, for that matter, with accumulation of damage. A women's title fight is only 30 minutes. So if you put the same restrictions on men, you'd see similar things happen. It's not because of the women, it's because of the ruleset.

That's also why you see more stops in women's MMA, because they fight with the same ruleset as the men.

Also going to mention that "physiology" doesn't have much to do with it. They don't necessarily have the punch power, but they also don't have the punch resistance. So it evens out.

I think if there was an increase to 3-minute rounds, more stoppages would occur.

Stoppages that come to mind: Bridges vs. O'Connell, Baumgardner vs. Harper, Green vs. Cederroos.

More knockouts happen with less time because the pace is sped up and less tactics are used . Knockouts don’t happen a lot the same reason the lighter weights in men dint happen often . And even less bc they are women ? Lol

Most woman don’t actually punch correctly either they fight emotionally charged most the time , the difference tonight was just that Taylor threw arm punches in desperation flurries while Cameron had really good snap on the end of her shots , Taylor couldn’t even get by her jab but it’s even harder to knock each other out if both are at the top of the division ,you’ll get a decision almost always . if you increase 3 minute rounds you’ll get even less knockouts in woman’s boxing that would take away from that aspect they have then everyone will complain when they slow the action down . Lol

Easy answer...... because it's female boxing.....lol.

Look at who the face of women's boxing is.... She ain't had a KO since her first bout.

Power isn't the common skill set for women. That's why when one showcases it, it's highlighted so much..... Similar to women's basketball and seeing one of them dunk..... It's not a common skill set.

Not many women are big, big punchers, you could argue the case for a few of them. But another factor is that you have much less set-up time, and much less time to finish someone off who is hurt in a 2 minute round. At world level it's 20 minutes vs 36 minutes. So obviously the KO percentages are going to be way lower. Nash out
