  • Right Cross vs. Straight Right?

I always thought they were interchangable terms that described throwing the right hand in a straight fashion from an orthodox fighter. The #2 in the 1-2 for an orthodox fighter.

Lederman mentioned that Berto is hitting Trabant with every punch in the book, left jab, left hook, right cross, straight right, etc.

    Can someone please tell me?

You turn your hips with a cross, straight right is just what it says, a straight right.

A right cross is more of a finisher punch and aims to kind of slash your opponents face. But a straight lands on say just the cheek. Right cross is more powerful, but hard to distinguish between the two.

The main difference is the use of the body.

Personally I like to throw a right hand similar to the way one would throw a hook, that is turning in my right arm. Of course you only do this on the inside.

It's exactly how it sounds really.

Wrong Wrong and Wrong...the straight right is a finishing punch...the cross is normally a setup punch for the hook

Toney knocked Williams out with a right cross.
