  • Greatest Fights of the 70's?

Trying to compile a list of the best fights from 1970-79.

I already have a running list of what I consider FOTY each year in the 70's but I'm looking for more hidden/obscure fights. Especially for 1971 & 1975.

TRY LISTING IN ORDER the best fights in the 70's & it's ok to include multiple fights from a year. I'm trying to find as many GREAT fights as I can. But I want to categorize them into the best...

I'd seen a old thread about great fights nobody talks about, & it had TONS of great fights listed but no dates...so please INCLUDE the YEAR at least.

No one listed the Rumble in the Jungle between Ali/Foreman for best of 74? Really?

Well you beat me to these.

I'm going to add Bob Foster / Chris Finnegan to the list for '72.

Alexis Arguello / Ruben Olivares '74

Alexis Arguello / Alfredo Escalera II '79

the first Jose Napoles / Ernie Lopez fight in '70 was good.

I enjoyed Danny "Li'l Red" Lopez (Ernie's brother) / Jose Torres (the featherweight) in '77.

The Ali / Norton trilogy was excellent. Especially the last two which were tough to call. I'd call Norton Ali's most difficult opponent myself.

Ali / Shavers in '77 was also very good.

And I know I'm missing good ones. These are just the ones I recall off the top of my head.
