  • Brian Curvis

Hi, I'm a new poster and have just joined the site to ask a favour of anyone who has any images / videos / clips of Brian Curvis. I'm mates with his son who's getting married at the weekend and it's just occurred to me that a good present would be a cd with some clips of his old man in his prime. His dad wasn't the type to keep his old memorabilia etc so he hasn't got too much in the way of souvenirs.

I've been on BBC and the Pathe site and am going to check out Google Images but was wondering on the off-chance if anyone has anything I may not already have seen.

Any help you could give would be gratefully received and I could return the favour by asking Brian any questions you have about his boxing days when I see him at the weekend.

Could get his fight against Emile Griffith uploaded sometime, very good fight, don't know if you have it or not though.

Any clips or resources in particular you are looking for on him or just anything ?,

Just ran over his record again, Brian beat some pretty big names, Vince S**** (Great great amateur, not sure what happened when he went pro), Gaspar Ortega, Jose Stable, Dupas all in a pretty short career and of course had the great fight with Griffith.

Just took from Boxrec, will keep looking for you, I'm more interested in him now .

He was apparently a pretty good fighter. There's a good interview with some of the Griffiths fight on BBC Search for Brian Curvis on the bbc site - I can't post links apparently cos I'm clearly too much of a newbie.

If you've got more of the Griffiths fight than they've put on the BBC site I'd love to get it off you.

        Cheers for the image too!

Still reading up on him, seems he never got a second title shot at Curtis Cokes although the fight was apparently all set up and ready to go, would like to know what happened with that if possible.

Some more pictures again I don't know what you have, these are just quick ones from a google search, I'm trying to get the fight up but it's not liking it for some reason, it's the full fight but it's in poor quality compared to the highlights on the bbc site.

With Cliff (another good boxer), Ken and Dai Curvis.

Yeah, I see him pretty much every morning when he's out jogging, still does 10 or so mile a day in his old age man's a machine.

Can I just say thanks for this, I really appreciate it. Was talking to him on Saturday and he was dismissive about watching this fight - probably because he lost - but I'm sure he'll be happy with it when he watches it with me when I see him next.

I'll ask the question about Curtis Cokes and will do an FAO for you after I see him next. It might not be for a while but I'll do it.
