  • Unused or Underused Boxing Nicknames

Is there a nickname that you’ve always thought would be a good one for a boxer, but you haven’t seen any boxers (or at least prominent, noteworthy boxers) use?
I got two ideas off the top of my head.
The first idea spawns from my disappointment of a lack of boxers from Pittsburgh other than Harry Greb. (I’ve lived most of my life in West PA, so once I became a boxing fan, I’ve always kinda wanted to see a boxer repping Pittsburgh).
The Pittsburgh Pulverizer would be an intimidating nickname. It’s a very old school kind of nickname, if you know what I mean.

Another great nickname would be the Magician. That’s the type of nickname that tells you a lot about the guy it belongs to. Someone as slick and elusive as Willie Pep, Pernell Whitaker or Loma; now you see him, now you don’t. But he’s also incredibly flamboyant and loves to put on a show, like Roy Jones, Naseem Hamed or Sugar Ray Robinson.

Marlon Starling was nicknamed magic man though.

in line with the Pittsburg pulverizer, you could have the Atlanta annihilator or the Harrisburg howitzer.

I don’t know anything about Starling, but am I correct in assuming that he was a very elusive boxer?
To address your point, though: It wouldn’t hurt to have another boxer today calling themselves, “The Magician”. It’s an underutilized nickname if anything else.

        - - When anyone hear of Boy Blackie or Grrlyman Assassin?

It's always Kid Blackie or Baby Face Assassin.

Like how you also came up with actual names for these imaginary boxers too. The “Grim” Willie Grimes one made me remember another idea for a nickname. Does anyone think “the Grim Reaper” would be a good one?

So were Paulie and Tarver off the top of my head.

Yeah it was a short lived name for some reason. Mainly when he conquered morales and Barrera.

And Roger Mayweather (R.I.P) was the Mexican assassin. I believe there was another black fighter with that moniker as well but can't remember
