  • Greatest Southpaws of All-Time

In the last 20 years there have been more great southpaw fighters that the 100 years preceding it. Who do you consider the greatest southpaws of all-time? Here is my list:

    2. Pernell Whitaker
    3. Manny Pacquiao
    4. Joe Calzaghe
    5. Flash Elorde
    6. Al Mccoy
    7. Tiger Flowers
    8. Lew Tendler
    9. Joel Casamayor
    10. Marvin Johnson

    Nice list.

Hagler is one of my all time favorites, but I would put Pea in the one spot. I would also move Flowers and Tendler to the three and four spots and drop everbody else down.

Not sure McCoy belongs on that list, but at the moment I can't think of someone else to put in there.

Calslappy is wank! Fuck him, he is a fraud. Whitaker is my fave, and I know he ain't all that but Hector Comacho was an entertainer. Naz is ambidextrous but was more comfoertable as a southpaw. I like them two guys co they were flashy and entertainers. People said they were clowns who brought the circus to the ring! I think that is hjarsh and it is good to see omething different in the ring. I hate fighting southpaws but have no problem hammeing them wiht rights.

Hagler all the way baby..! I especially like how he would change from Southpaw to orthodox at times..! The man would Knock you out from all angels with both hands! Best southpaw ever..! However.. Wasn't Moorer the first heavyweight southpaw? I know it was a **** dicision over a Holyfield who had a heart condition, but still..

Tyson could be somewhat ambidexterious at times.

              Hagler/Sweet Pea

Had wins over Billy Conn, Gus Lesnevich, Mickey Walker, Fred Apostoli, Ceferino Garcia, Jackie Fields...

Vicente Saldivar should be ranked over some of those names.

Chris Byrd was one of the recent longest reigning heavyweight champions of this era of heavyweights, and Moorer was the first southpaw heavyweight champion. Not necessarily GREAT fighters, but good champions and undersized heavyweights that got by on skill and not size. A fighter that i do consider great is Michael Nunn. He had a good middleweight run and beat some very good fighters. He was unbeaten and one of the best pound for pound until he ran into another all time great in Toney. Tarver is another great southpaw.

In the future i think we can expect Chad Dawson and Sergeii Dzinziruk to be on this list.
