Highly respected Mexican amateur, Diego de la Hoya, is ready to go pro. The boxer won six national medals and is the cousin of Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya. Most expect Diego to fight under his counsin's promotional banner. The talented amateur had over 250 bouts in the unpaid ranks and wants to make a name for himself by showcasing his in-ring abilities and not because of his famous last name. Diego and his father are in talks with talent scout Joel De La Hoya, brother of Oscar, regarding the fighter's entrance into the pro ranks.
